La Casa di Lucio residence is situated in the Sasso Caveoso, one of the two old quarters of the Sassi, in the heart of the city of Matera; the residence is set in a 1600 house built during various periods and renovated in 2001. The skilful, lengthy restoration work that was carried out by expert local workmen, with an ethical intervention, aimed at wholly preserving the most important features of the building and valorising the functional and decorative aspects, which are characteristic of Sassi buildings: great frescoed vaults, a multitude of niches dug into the soft rock, arches and excavated areas. Experience the Sassi right in the very heart and soul, surrounded by niches, caves, great pointed vaults, traces passed down from history. Matera is an ancient cave city and the second province in the Basilicata region of Italy.
