Attrazioni
Chamois Snow Superb mountains and wonderful snow; slopes for all levels, hidden corners, perfect peace and timeless silence.
Chamois is an important skiing resort, fully equipped with modern ski lifts and a skiing school with a team of qualified teachers who also meet the requirements of children and beginners. The altitudes of the slopes range from 1,800 to 2,500 metres and are suitable for all levels of skiers. Here you can practise alpine skiing with traditional itineraries up to heights of 3,000 m, cross-country skiing with loops at Lake Lod and the town, while there are excellent opportunities for lovers of off-piste skiing.
An original alternative to skis are snow shoes - available for hire - for walking on fresh, spotless snow while enjoying nature and discovering the inhabitants of the woods.
The slope has two routes, a competitive one and a tourist one, plus an archery enclosure with the possibility of practising skiarc.
Winter is full of entertainment for children, families and schools an also the traditional end-of-year torchlight procession with mulled wine and cakes. The Moving walkways is a solution for young skiers and adult beginners. Ideal for taking the first steps with skis or snowboards, the moving walkways installed on the baby slope eliminate the need to use chair lifts, allowing beginners to get to the top of the slope without getting tired and concentrating just on their descents. Chamois offers many opportunities for skiers, including skiing tours. In summer Chamois is even more beautiful; nature is splendid with its luscious green meadows, precious flowers and intense skies. Herdsmen's huts, typical chalets and a beautiful lake can also be reached with a chairlift at an altitude of 2000 metres. Excursionists can choose between various itineraries and life in the open air. > Get away from routine stress for a weekend or a little longer, to renew your body and mind, simply reading a good book in the open air, enjoyed an entire day in the sun, lying on the grass by the lakeside, drinking fresh water from the fountains and enjoying the fragrance of the grass. Walking along the woodland paths, discovering the taste of freshly-picked strawberries and blueberries, being surprised by the whistle of a marmot or the circling of an eagle, meeting cows at pasture and walking up to the sky. For true lovers of mountains, limpid skies, the emotions of altitude and the fragrance of the woods, Chamois is ideal for excursions of all levels of difficulty, from the easiest to the most demanding. Countless paths lead to mountains and ridges from where it is possible to enjoy incomparable views of the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and the Gran Paradiso.
Flying at Chamois
The altiport of Chamois - the first to be opened in Italy in 1967 - is the most popular mountain airfield in the Aosta Valley, both in summer and in winter. It is so protected from the wind that it can also be used in bad weather. As you go up the Valtournanche, the airfield can be clearly seen on the right near the built-up area of Chamois. As well as light aircraft, the airfield can also be used by lovers of hang-gliding and paragliding who can fly into another world from here and other reserved areas. Chamois loves children and respects their health, safety and freedom.
In summer, the playground, the roads and the square are tailored for children; in winter, children are free to roll around in the snow or start learning to ski using the new moving walkways.
At Chamois, children can run around and enjoy themselves in perfect safety in the narrow lanes of the town centre or play football on the playing field, play in the playgrounds immersed in nature, enjoying themselves without danger throughout the long, sunny days.
