Respectful of nature and traditions, it is set in the National Park of Casentino Forests, very close to the century-old Hermitage and Monastery of Camaldoli. IL PARCO
Our Hotel & Restaurant is set in the lovely resort village of Moggiona, which was a possession of the Camaldolensian monks for several centuries, and lies in the lush National Park of Casentino Forests. For over a millennium the monks devoted their energies to the care of the local flora and fauna and for sixty years the Park Authority has worked on preserving this natural reserve, which is the second largest forest in Europe. I Tre Baroni Hotel & Restaurant fits perfectly in this fantastic environment, where so many places seem to be in a time warp. The hotel offer the discerning visitor a comfortable base from which to explore places of outstanding beauty. Nature, culture and sporting activities will make your stay particularly pleasant.
From North:
On the Autostrada (Motorway) A1 Florence to Rome take the Firenze Sud exit for Passo della Consuma and Poppi, then turn left following the sign to Camaldoli and go on as far as Moggiona.
From South:
On the Autostrada (Motorway) A1 Florence to Rome take the Arezzo exit for Casentino, Bibbiena and Poppi. Just before entering Ponte a Poppi turn right following the sign to Camaldoli and go on as far as Moggiona.
From North-East:
On the Superstrada (Expressway) E45 Ravenna to Rome take the Bagno di Romagna exit for Passo dei Mandrioli and Casentino. Go past Badia Prataglia, follow the sign to Camaldoli and go past the Monastery, then go on as far as Moggiona.

We offer accommodation in 21 lodging units, all carefully and elegantly furnished. THE APARTMENTS
Each of the 5 apartments has a small hallway, two separate bedrooms and a bathroom - although there is no kitchen. The bedrooms are equipped with every modern comfort and sleep 3 up to 5, in double and/or single beds. They are ideal for couples with little children not old enough to sleep on their own. With a view either on the valley or the forest and the village of Moggiona.
CHARME SAN ROMUALDO ROOM
Is the only one in its kind: constructed entire in wood, it has been dedicated to the founding Saint of the order of the monaci camaldolesi, Saint Romualdo (1027). Much large and intimate, this room is equipped of a wood bridge with possibility to add to others 3 bed places or vain stay. Independent external income.
SWIMMING POOL:
The panoramic swimming pool, where the sun shines from early in the morning, it's a privileged place to have a refreshing bath with a fine view across the valley and on Poppi Castle.
THE TERRACE:
Imagine you sipping a refreshing cocktail by the side of the lit up swimming pool, while sitting at a table and looking at the fantastic scenery. In our panoramic terrace you can enjoy aperitifs, cocktails, wines and typical dishes with a view on the Casentino Valley. It's the ideal place for a quick lunch, an after dinner with your friends or an even more fascinating one with your partner. The terrace adds style to your special occasions such as celebrations, receptions and aperitifs together with your colleagues or friends.
THE OPTION OF AN APERITIF:
Have an aperitif and talk to your guests in the terrace, the ideal place to greet them and make them feel at ease before a lunch or a dinner in the restaurant.
THE SPORTS
The excellent location of our hotel allows you to practice different sports in fantastic and exciting surroundings.
GOLF: For lovers of this sport, the course of Casentino Golf Club, one of the most beautiful in Tuscany, is only a few kilometres from the hotel. Set on a hill commanding a superb view on the whole valley and dominated by the magnificent castle, the course is particularly suited for those who prefer to test their technical and accuracy skills rather than their strength.
BIKE: Many cycling routes depart from our hotel. We provide our guests with detailed cycling maps giving indications of the type of terrain, the level of difficulty, the average journey time, the attractions to be seen along the way. Bike lovers can plunge into the lush green of the Casentino forests as soon as they step out of the hotel ready to cycle around. As an additional facility there is also an equipped garage for the cleaning and maintenance of the bikes. 'The bike - as bike trainer Angiolino says, brings out the hidden explorer in everyone of us, the naturalist, the lover of unknown places eager to experience their smells, tastes and colours'. Walk along the fascinating paths of the National Park, at close quarters with curious animals peeping at you from their dens in the forest. Looking at the panorama from a hilltop, you have just reached not without some effort, fully enjoy all the beauty of this world and realize that everything here has been created for you to be seen.
TREKKING: You can test how fit you are and your knowledge of the wood going on excursions of graded difficulty and varied beauty. Following natural paths, also guided by some walking experts, you will reach the most idyllic places in the forest. You might also happen to make some detour and get to almost unspoilt spots, drinking water from fresh and clear springs along the way.
FISHING: The Casentino Valley is rich in streams, lakes and ditches where to test one's own skills in the different fishing techniques, particularly in trout fishing. A guide book about itineraries, fishing techniques, baits and legends on fishing in Casentino is available for our guests.
SKIING: The hotel is about 45 minutes' drive from a skiing resort, with a skiing school, a ski lift, two slopes and a cabin with a restaurant. Other available facilities are skis, snowboards and snowshoes for hire, to explore and walk in the snow-covered forest. Many skiers and snowboarders stay at our hotel because of our advantageous rates for snow lovers. The resort is open every day in December, January and February and at weekends in March, depending on the amount of the snow.
TENNIS, FOOTBALL, ROLLER SKATING, FIVE-A-SIDE FOOTBALL: Almost adjacent to the hotel there is a tennis court, a football pitch, a skating rink, a five-a-side football pitch. We run these additional facilities in partnership with 'Pro Loco Moggiona'(the local tourist board). Advance booking is recommended.
EXCURSIONS:
Lovers of nature and silence will particularly enjoy going on excursions on foot, by bike or on horseback through the century-old Casentino forest, where huge firs, beeches and chestnut trees rise high above you along the path. For over a thousand years the Camaldolensian monks looked after the forest - the second largest in Europe. The Park Authority has continued preserving it for sixty years so that now it is a unique, internationally renowned place. Here you can go back in time, to a quiet atmosphere where only the voice of the wind and the fast-flowing water of crystal-clear streams can be heard.
ANIMALS AND LANDSCAPE
In the shade of the wood, where a few sunbeams sometimes glint and lots of deers, roe deers, wild boars and partridges live, you can discover your true self. Here everything testifies of an old and respectful relationship between man and nature. In autumn, from 3rd September to 10th October, we organize night excursions in search of deers and fallow-deers in their mating ritual.
THE RESTAURANT
The restaurant is a cosy and stylish room where you can try unique tastes and experience intense emotions. The furniture emanating a sense of warmth, fine paintings and sweet music make our restaurant exclusive and prestigious. Here everything is suitably placed. The restaurant "I Tre Baroni", conceived as a convivial meeting place, provide the perfect setting to have a blessed time sipping some good wine in front of a fire burning in the ancient fireplace, or to celebrate with friends.
